ChrisCo wiper openers are a fixed blade, fixed diameter non-moving part tool. These tools by design are extremely effective formation cutting, hole opening, tools and can also be used for clean out runs, such as knocking down ledges, reaming out bridges, while assuring a full gauge well bore, etc. When incorporated with a ChrisCo stabilizer to stiffen your BHA, it’s more effective in each of those areas, such as hole straightening, etc. Like all ChrisCo hole openers, these are designed and fabricated in our facility. The benefit of this non-moving (no roller cones) parts tool is to eliminate the concern on small tools and there fragile moving pieces, and prevent them from being left in the hole (to avoid fishing). We have readily available sizes from 3-7/8” to 7-7/8”; however, we will make any custom ordered size upon request. ChrisCo fabricates these in both 3 and 4 blade options. These wiper openers are durable in order that they can perform your extreme hole opening needs, or simple hole cleaning needs. Each blade is also equipped with its own jet as well as bull nose for maximum hole cleaning and return. The piloted wiper openers have all of the same functionalities as our bull nose wiper openers, with the added feature of a pilot bit. This allows you to drill up fill that may have settled at the bottom of your hole, or deepen your already piloted hole without having to trip multiple times. The installation of the tri cone does introduce moving parts to the tool, however the same concern does not apply do to the larger bearing and seal package by design in the tri cone. Help us by working with us in designing your next problem solving, money saving tool. Money saved is money made!

How is a Wiper different than a Stabilizer ?

The blades of a Wiper have a cutting edge that is 90 degrees off center and rounded on the back side. This allows the tool to literally wipe the hole as it is rotated.

What does a wiper do ?

The Wiper creates a smooth, gun-drill borehole, removing ledges, bridges, or debris that has a potential for snagging anything in the hole.
